A message from Mr. Murphy

February 2021

Dear parents,
I hope you are all keeping well and looking forward to (hopefully) returning to school in early March as envisaged by Government.
We do not have any extra information regarding this proposal other than that which has been released by Government and you will hear of any new developments at the same time as we do - on the News!
I also want to thank you all for the extremely high levels of engagement with our remote teaching & learning which I know can be difficult and frustrating at times.
It appears that a phased reopening is planned with Infant classes due to return to school first, followed by 1st / 2nd classes, 3rd/4th,  5th/6th etc. but this is still only a proposal. Nothing has been definitely decided yet.
As you are probably aware, Special Schools reopened last week with 50% student attendance. Special Classes in Mainstream schools are due to reopen from next Monday, Feb 22nd but this announcement does not provide in-school teaching for children with additional needs in mainstream primary classes which is the case  here in St. Olaf's. We will keep you posted if there is any change to this position.

On a separate note and following a number of queries from parents (trying to plan ahead for possible summer holidays maybe!) I can confirm that
St. Olaf's NS will close for the Summer holidays on Friday June 30th and will reopen for pupils on Tuesday August 31st, 2021
We look forward to seeing you all again in the near future.
Best regards,
Ger Murphy
Principal
