The Parents Association would like to take this opportunity to say a Big Thank You to all those parents who helped us with our fundraising and events over the past year. Without your help and support we would not be able to run these events with such success. For those of you who are not familiar with the Parents Association, we are a structure through which parents in our school can work together for the best possible education for their children. The Parents’ Association works with the principal, staff, and the board of management to build effective partnership between home and school.

A typical Parents’ Association is made up of a Chairperson, Secretary, Treasurer and ideally at least one parent from each class. Please check out our link on the school website for details of all that we’ve done and expect to do over the following year.

Our class representatives are further assisted by additional committee members who are not necessarily class reps but who give of their time and expertise.  Every September the Parents Association extends a warm welcome to anyone wishing to become part of the committee and/or be a class rep. It is not mandatory for a Class Rep to be on the committee but it is preferable – as there is then a clearer line of communication. You will see however from the list above that not all reps are committee members. The class representative is generally a parent who has put themselves forward to be on the committee and may or may not change over the years that their child(ren) are in school. If a parent is interested in putting themselves forward to be a class rep they should either notify the current class rep or email the Parents Association (olaf.pa@gmail.com). The class rep generally co-ordinates a contact list for the class to help with kids parties, playdates for kids and adults, collections for teachers at Christmas & Summer, coordinating the class year book and so on. The class rep is available to bring ideas and concerns to the committee while also communicating anything relevant back to the class. The class rep is a purely voluntary role and the Parents Association are extremely grateful for their time, effort and commitment to the school.
The preferred method of communication from the Parents Association and from the class reps is by way of text and e-mail where we will try to keep you informed of our activities, events and fundraisers.
