Santry 2019 - pupils viewpoint
We all had a great day at Santry on May 27th. We arrived by bus, and got our seats in the stand. There were lots of schools there on the day. Once we got our official numbers we waited anxiously for our time to get on the track.
The week before, Lauryn Healy won a gold medal for the Under 11 High Jump, and her brother Sean, had won a bronze medal for the Under 12 500m.
When my team were called onto the track, we got into our positions and waited for the signal. On our Under 10 relay team, I was the starter, Jamie, Albie and James was the sprint finish. My heart was pounding when I heard the words, ‘get set’, and the go whistle.
We ran as fast as ever and made it through to the final, winning a silver medal. We were delighted.
We got the cheer on our other teams, including the Under 11 girls, who won bronze in their relay.
The rain began to pour after lunch, and we all had run back to the bus, happy but wet. We all got a homework pass for effort.
